I won a photography competition with this one. Mind you the judge was Charlie Boreman and this was taken in the same area of Western Mongolia that he and Ewan McGregor rode through in Long Way Round. So I was pretty sure it would catch his eye

When we did find petrol (gas) it was 82 octane!! We had Jerry cans with us with a bit of the good stuff in for emergency's though! Oh and the cheese, lovely hospitable people the mongolians but they do insist on forcing their very sour yak cheese upon you at every opportunity. I found the only way to avoid this was by keeping a supply in the car and being the first to offer it.....they weren't expecting that! Oh but then the yak butter tea and vodka comes out
Really, one of the most hospitable countries on the planet, along with Laos, Iran and Pakistan! I have never drunk so much tea as when I was in Pakistan and I'm English!
