Bad news, Tom was not able to install the mirror today. We need more information about how to take the existing glued mirror off.

A Triumph glass specialist that Tom called suspected that it had to be done by heating up the mirror foot. They use a small torch, but it seemed to be too risky to try this without consulting the Spyker Factory. Tom does not want me to end up with a cracked windshield.

So, the Spyker factory confirmed that the way to take off the foot is with heat. They recommend using a hairdryer, but caution to let the windshield heat up slowly and evenly.

Tom said to wait until we have a really hot day, and put the car in the full sun, this makes the whole windshield evenly heated and then use the hairdryer in the mirror area. This makes the temperature difference as small al possible and reduces stress in the windshield.

Hi i have played a little with the bonded mirrors on my 1000 MV Agusta.to replace the old glass with a anti dazzle new mirror. i found that as you get the glass adhesive warm you can also work one corner away with a very thin scalple cutting the adhesive away and this helps take the pressure off the backing, or in your case the front windscreen but a little at a time and carefully too!!

i hope this may also help with your bonded mirror too ?

Then i have used celuliose thinners or white spirit to remove the traces of old adhesive.
