Spyker Saab in the USA

In support of Saab we will get the first new 9-5 Saab in the USA in June

Yesterday I drove Victors car. Boy that new 9-5 is a really special car. My wife was worried that it would be too much of a GM (read Opel) product, but I was very impressed with all the new, and technologically highly developed design.

Congrats!
It has a very 'clean' design, something that really competes with Audi imo.

And.. did you get a discount because you already have a Spyker?

Timing could not have been better, our lease on the Cayenne Turbo is ending in May, and my wife had decided not to have a SUV any more. So, we were all set to get the new Porsche Panamera 4S, until this opportunity came along.

Congratulations on the choice of the new addition to your garage
You and the 9-5 certainly look a "happy couple" in the photo.

I think that next year I'll replace my 9-3 Saab with a 9-5, but with a 4 cyl .. that's fine for here. I really love the idea of "on screen" info. It has had excellent press reports ... Well in a few months I'll be waiting to read your comments on the Saab.

Cheers from near Paris.
David

The new Saab 9-5 has an unbelievable amount of technology:

Lane change warning
Advanced parking assistance
Speed signage recognition
Adaptable cruise control
Head up display
Real time damping
Variable steering assist
Rear seat entertainment (that made the car totally cool in the eyes of our kids)
Active head restraint
Roll over sensing system
iPod download to stereo harddrive

Together with the four wheel drive and the 300HP Turbo, I think we will have a great new family car

perfect technology for Spyker D-series SUV

I am sure this would make the perfect technology for the Spyker D-series SUV. Eventually swap the engine, but keep all this electronic nitty gritty... That's exactly what Cayenne owners go for! Isn't it? And, Spyker needs to make money in the first place.

(Sometimes, I would wish my house had only 10% of that kind of electronic help, e.g., when I am coming back from a trip with 3 bags, and fiddling for the door keys, lights etc. We have manual gearboxes over here, and manual houses, too!)

Saab 9-5

Hi, many thanks for posting. Very interesting indeed since there are no test reviews out (yet). Would you mind sharing your experience with us and compare the 9-5 you drove with let us say an Audi A6 or BMW 5 series? I am curious to learn more about the car.

Antonio,

I was very impressed, the new Saab 9-5 was way better than I expected. I was worried that it was too much of a rebadged GM product, but did not feel that at all.

We were going to buy a Porsche Panamera 4S, so I went in with some reservation, but came away pleasantly surprised. I love technology and gadgets, and you will get plenty of that with the Saab 9-5.

For sure this car is on par with the BMW 5 series and the Audi A6. Saab will only get better and a more distictive brand over time.

I would say go for it.
