At the AutoRai in 2005, and in some of the other pictures, the car still had the glass roof panels but now these panels have been replaced by aluminium panels.

In my opinion the glass panel fit the original design of the car and as a consequence look better.

Why replace them? To keep the heat out? To fragile?

              Wouter,

I think the glass roof panels have just been tinted to keep out the sun a bit more.

I agree with Jeffrey. They look different, but aren't replaced.

image_5515.jpg Not 100% sure but this must be #034 (interior colour, airbox between roof and engine, old style headlights and the location looks to be Monaco)

Sorry to revive this thread, but I was wondering why some Double 12s in the unofficial registry are called "Double 12 S" when, as in this case, there is no "S" badge on the side.

                      Thanks.

Eventually, is this #006 or #034?

I don't know too much about the details of the Double 12, but I assume the S behind 12 stands for Supercharged.

Don't be sorry, that's where this thread is for!

The official name was initially "Double 12S", later this was changed into "Laviolette LWB". Most Double 12's have "Double 12" on the side, some have "Double 12SC", which indicates a Super Charger and one has "Double 12S". In the dooropening, there is also a badge. These are also different on the Double 12 models. Some even have "Double 12" on the side and "Double 12S" on the dooropening...

There is a rumour that the chassis of the first Double 12R (chassis #006), which was a race car, was used as a base for a roadgoing Double 12S: http://www.spykerowner.com/forum/uno...notti-car.html (post #2)

Hope that answers your questions, and if not, don't hesitate to ask more questions!
